The Steinbühltunnel is a key structure of the Wendlingen–Ulm high-speed rail line and part of the Stuttgart–Ulm rail project. The twin-bore railway tunnel was constructed using conventional tunnelling and is characterised by demanding geological conditions and a high degree of construction-phase complexity.
