Tangentialverbindung Ost (TVO) – Berlin

Description

The Tangential Connection East (TVO) is one of Berlin's most significant future transport infrastructure projects. The aim of the project is to create an efficient tangential north-south link in the east of the city to relieve the inner-city road network and to improve the connection of residential, commercial, and development areas to the primary transport network.

The project involves the planning of a new arterial road with complex junctions, engineering and bridge structures, as well as extensive environmental and traffic-related measures. Due to the large scale of the project, long planning horizons, and high public relevance, there are particularly high requirements for project organization, coordination, and decision-making processes.

Project Characteristics (Excerpt):

  • Function: Tangential road link in eastern Berlin
  • Scope of services: New alignment including junctions, engineering structures, and accompanying infrastructure
  • Key features: High planning and permitting complexity, environmental concerns, significant political and public attention
  • Project environment: Densely populated urban and suburban areas with numerous technical and institutional interfaces
